Website costs for freelancers: what to budget for a client project

Your website subscription is one part of the cost of delivering a client project. A useful budget also accounts for the domain, content preparation, your time, and any separately scoped work. Start with the deliverables rather than choosing a client price from a headline.
Start with the recurring service cost
SiteChirp Starter is USD 49 per month, Growth is USD 99 per month, and AI Growth is USD 199 per month. Website setup, hosting, and maintenance are included within the agreed plan. Billing starts with the first successful subscription payment, so allow for subscription costs during assisted setup as well as after launch.
Keep domains and extra work separate
Domain registration and renewal are separate from the subscription. Additional pages, revisions beyond the included scope, and custom integrations require a separate agreement. Ask what an integration needs from the client, whether another provider charges a fee, and who will maintain the connection.
Budget for the work you do yourself
Your own time may include finding a client, preparing a brief, collecting content, reviewing drafts, obtaining approval, and answering questions after launch. Track these activities for the project. A low software cost does not mean the entire client project has a low delivery cost.
Use a transparent worked example
For a Growth subscription kept active for three monthly payments, the SiteChirp subscription component is 3 × USD 99 = USD 297. This example excludes any applicable tax, domain costs, separately agreed work, and your own time. It is not a full project quote or an earnings forecast.
Set your own client pricing
Decide what you are delivering to the client, how revisions are handled, and whether your fee includes ongoing support. You arrange and collect client payments separately. Plan for the end of the service
Canceling a SiteChirp subscription stops future renewals. Hosting and AI service continue through the paid period and then stop. Website content is retained for seven days after paid service ends, with export available on request. Domain renewal and migration work are separate. Include those responsibilities in your client handover discussion.
Questions to resolve before buying
